Volcanoes and earthquakes can both cause a lot of damage. I feel an earthquake would cause more physical and emotional hurt. According to http://www.cliffsnotes.com/sciences/geology/earthquakes/effects-of-earthquakes can cause extreme structual damage and even fires. Earthquakes are mostly known for destroying many homes when they happen. When this type of thing happens and you lose your home you will most likely feel deep emotional pain for a long time, which is never good. The website http://www2.fiu.edu/~longoria/natural/quake/ says that around 10,000 people die in earthquakes each year, this is a lot compared to the few hundred people killed by volcanoes each year. This may have to do with the fact that earthquakes are more common. Also, the ratio of earthquake disasters a year to volcano disasters a year favors earthquakes as more dangerous.
